Timisoara was the first European city with street lights in 1884. Also, it is the first city to have the first tram pulled by horses for a distance of 6.6 km. In 2015 became the first city with bicycles as a way of transportation.

2.  The Plague Statue was given as a gift to the city by a wealthy family that was spared by plague disease. The Statues was crafted in Vienna and brought to the city by boat.

3. Timisoara has a lot of fresh markets where villagers and small farmers sell their homegrown products. Depending what you are buying, they let you taste before buying (for example, any type of sausages, cheese, any fruits, etc).

4. Between 1879-1908, Timisoara had the largest Jewish community (12,000 people, meaning 10% of the population at that time). Today the community is in a number of 700 people. Here is a picture of the Synagogue.

5. ''At the Fish Fountain'' is the direction point where people meet for a date (you do not want to have one here, you would not which one is your partner).

7. The people that were born here will mention all the time that ''Banat is the head of the country'' (Banat representing the western region). This is because most of the things happening in Romania first took place in Timisoara.
