Image
Those travelling to Nottingham, the city of Robin Hood, should not miss a couple of important places and one of them is Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem. Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is considered to be one of the oldest pubs in England dating from 1189 AD. You can find the place few minutes away from Nottingham Castle, between few caves out of sandstone of Castle Rock. It is amazing sitting in a cave for your breakfast/lunch/dinner, especially on the hot weather during summer.  photo credit: http://triptojerusalem.com/ Here are some facts about the oldest pub: 1. The previous name was The Pilgrim. 2. On the same place, it used to be a brewhouse for Nottingham Castle (around 1067). 3. The name of Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem was given around 1799. 4. The word ''trip'' does not mean a journey but just a stop or a rest on the way to Jerusalem.  5. It was crusaders favourite place to stop by on their way to Holy Land (Jerusalem).

BELGRADE- THE GATEWAY TO THE BALKANS

Belgrade is the capital of Serbia, also known as the Gateway to the Balkans is surrounded on three sides by Danube and Sava Rivers. This makes it the only capital situated on two international rivers. Even if it is not on most travelers' bucket lists, Serbia is the perfect place that combines cultures with history, nightlife, and gastronomy. Since the NATO bombing in 1999, Serbia is still trying to recover from the war. For the event to not be forgotten, the NATO-bombed buildings are still visible in Belgrade. I had the chance to visit the city in August and below you can find the picture gallery of the trip for the main highlights. Adding to those, you can always arrange a Danube river cruise or the panoramic view of the city at night from Kalemegdan Hill.
